RULES OF MEMBERSHIP

The Club shall consist of a President, Vice-Presidents, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a committee of nine and an unlimited number of members

Candidates for membership of the Club shall be proposed by one member and seconded by another and elected, or balloted for, by the committee, two negatives to exclude. Members need not be Basenji owners.

A list of members and their addresses will be maintained and available for inspection if so requested by members of the Club or by the Kennel Club.

The annual subscription shall be £10 single, £13 joint (two persons residing at the same address) and no other form of payment shall entitle membership. The subscription shall be paid to the Treasurer on the first of January each year and if any member fails to pay the subscription by the first of March the committee shall deem them to have resigned. But if the committee shall subsequently receive satisfactory written explanation, the member may, on payment of arrears and at the discretion of the committee, be re-admitted to membership. No member whose subscription is unpaid shall be entitled to any privilege of membership, nor shall any new members be entitled to vote until three months after their election. (Subscription rates as at 1st January 2019).

Any member who shall be suspended under Kennel Club Rule A42j(4) and/or any member whose dog(s) is/are disqualified under Kennel Club Rule A42j(8) shall ipso facto cease to be a member of the Society for the duration of the suspension and/or disqualification. If the conduct of any member shall, in the opinion of the Committee of the Society, be injurious or likely to be injurious to the character or interests of the Society, the committee of the Society may, at a meeting the notice convening which includes as an object the consideration of the conduct of a member, determine that a Special Genera] Meeting of the Society shall be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him/her. Notice of the Special General Meeting shall be sent to the accused member, giving particulars of the complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the meeting that he/she may attend and offer an explanation. If at the meeting, a resolution to expel is passed by two-thirds majority of the members present and voting, his/her name shall forthwith be erased from the list of members, and he/she shall thereupon cease for all purpose to be a member of the Society, except that he/she may, within two calendar months from the date of such meeting ,appeal to the Kennel Club upon and subject to such condition as the Kennel Club may impose.

The committee may recommend for the approval of the Annual Genera] Meeting such persons as they think eligible for Honorary membership.

No person whilst an undischarged bankrupt may serve on the Committee of or hold any other office or appointment within a Kennel Club Registered Society.
